What is it about brass and black (and white) that kindles that sense of rightness within us? Taken together, they bestow a timeless, unimpeachable class. Now that trends have placed brass back in favor, images of amazing interiors where this trinity of colors are used in projects are cropping up all over Pinterest. And we are IN LOVE.
One our favorite places that we have spotted this trend is in kitchens. A hanging light fixture over the kitchen island is a great place to add some of that eye-popping brass. Complement these fixtures, be they pendants or island lights, with pulls for drawers and plumbing fixtures in a similar brass finish. For the win, go with a hood range, either made entirely of brass or with brass highlights.
As mouth-watering as kitchens in this winning combination can be, bathrooms with this scheme are just as enticing. While black and white cabinetry and appliances dominate this trend in the kitchen, gorgeous tile working seems to do the heavy lifting in bathrooms. White subway tile, once seen as part of a grimy underground, looks amazing when paired with black grout and brass plumbing and lighting fixtures.

But tile doesn't always have to be white—in fact, black tile in interesting patterns, matte finishes, or with gold (aka amazing!) grout is stunning. We love the way black grounds the space and adds the drama that allows the brass to pop.
By narrowing the palette down to black and white and brass, the importance of detail, pattern, and texture emerges. Indeed, as our posts coming soon will demonstrate, texture and textural contrast are at the heart of what trends are resonating now. Something like the riveted turnscrews and ornamental keys in our fixtures can be appreciated in this kind of space.
As well-suited to a luxe kitchen or bath as this decorating trinity is, there's plenty of opportunity to extend it into a sitting room or living room. To help underscore the point, we made this mood board for you on Polyvore.

Before we leave, here's a few things to remember:
· Emphasize texture and pattern
· Mix finishes if not metals
· The look doesn't work without simplicity and cleanliness
